Mandy's baby shower

Some pics from the shower we threw for Mandy at our house at the end of April. The best part was that out of 20 guests, 5 were pregnant! Talk about it being in the water!!! It was a successful event and I think everyone had a lot of fun. Lisa T. co-hosted and made thefavors and diaper cake which were both really cute. My mom helped with set up and clean up which was so great. Thanks to all who came and all who helped.

George Edwin Asher VanSandt

Born May 27, 2009 at 12:54 pm. 8lb 5oz, 21.25 in. Lots of hurdles to get here- but he is here and he is so sweet. Mandy did so well and I am so proud of her. She already looks like a veteran mom. I may start printing the wedding invites this weekend, I think "George and Lucy" sounds like a perfect match!!!

Lucy's open house

Once again I have gotten myself a month behind in the blogging department. Last month Linda and Dad were sweet enough to throw us a "come meet Lucy" open house. It was part baby shower and part open house. It was super relaxed and great to get to see so many people from Corvallis w/o having to drag Lucy all over town. there was lots of yummy food and even a frost your own cupcake station. This of course was Rory's favorite part. You can tell it is a weekend spent and grandma and grandpa's when you get 2 cupcakes in one day! Rory also managed to get some cool big sister gifts and only made it half way through the party before she shed her party dress and opted for the new swim suit. It was a really lovely party and we are so lucky to have so many people help us welcome miss Lucy to the family!

Ps- I do realize that it was Lucy's party and yet all the pictures are of Rory. As a second child I am painfully aware of this phenomenon, however this time I tried to take pictures of Lucy, but she was so busy being held and cuddled by all the guests i didn't even really see her all day. More pics of her next time, I promise!

3 month comparison

Here are the girls at 3 months each. They remain very similar in looks and very different in temperment. Lucy is a great sleeper and rarely do you hear her voice (although she is starting to do a lot of "talking"). Rory is now a great sleeper, but we paid our dues early on. She is making the transition to her big girl bed like a champ and is doing great with the potty training. She is just such a big kid these days. Lucy is sweet and snuggly and I can't believe how fast time is going. In a blink they will both be in school. I am loving the weather and am so looking forward to the next few months of sunshine, swimming, vacations, and lots of people off from work!

Another Roryism and a Lucy milestone

On April 26th Lucy rolled over from back to front unassisted- just for the record books. Last week when in her mind I was not listening adequately to her, Rory put her hand on her hip and very sternly said, "Mommy Ann!" She must think that I use "Ann" as a way to get her attention and not because it is her middle name.
